In this session, Ed Goyer will discuss and demonstrate ideas for improvising on the vibraphone and other mallets and techniques for accompanying yourself or outlining harmony for the piece, if you are the only harmonic instrument.

Young players will be invited to participate in the masterclass.

Ed Goyer completed a Bachelor of Music degree at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music majoring in jazz vibraphone and harmony and arranging. He completed a Masters in Composition in 2007 and released his first album, Dichotomies, in 2008. 

Ed has performed and recorded with many Australian artists such as Ed Kuepper, John Morrison, Waldo Fabian, Jenny Morris, and ARIA Award-nominated band, CODA, of which he was a member for several years. 

As a vibraphone player and percussionist, Ed has performed at many local, regional, and interstate events such as WOMAD in Adelaide, Bellingen Music Festival, and the Sydney Latin Jazz Festival, and at venues such as City Recital Hall in Sydney, Brisbane Powerhouse Theatre, Hayes Theatre, Sydney Opera House, and The Basement.

Ed’s recent focus has been art music ensemble, Polymorphic Orkestra, which has released four albums through Bamboozle Music. He was most recently featured as a composer for the Synergy Percussion program, Common Time.
