A Poetic Odyssey for Secondary Students
Wannabe influencers Will and Ed have cracked the code to going viral: let AI churn out the content and count the likes. It works, until it doesn't. When their latest post flops spectacularly, a mysterious internet pop-up drags them out of their feed and into their own memories, where every lazy shortcut and every borrowed idea is waiting for them. The only way out is through poetry. To escape, Will and Ed must master its four building blocks- rhyme, rhythm, imagery and theme- and use each one to put their own experience into words that are truly theirs.
Funny, fast and unexpectedly moving, this three-hander from Poetry in Action tackles the question every classroom is now asking: what is left for us to make when a machine can make it faster? Through classic and contemporary poems performed at full tilt, students discover how poets build meaning line by line, and why real creativity cannot be outsourced. Every performance is followed by a live Q&A with the actors.
Written by Sam O'Sullivan and Bryce Youngman and directed by Jo Turner, the show comes with a free teacher's resource pack for every Seymour Centre booking, aligned to ACARA and NESA English outcomes.
