Seymour, Daniel Cottier Productions and Sestra Films present
3 Winters
Australian premiere
"My mother will never be a servant again. Our daughter will never be a servant to anyone. She will grow up in a free country."
A reflection on power and the rollercoaster lives of four generations of women impacted by monarchy, communism and democracy.
Over 70 years in an ivy-clad house in Zagreb, Croatia, the Kos family argue and fall in and out of love as world after world is erected and then torn down around them.
From the remnants of monarchy, through Communism, then war, democracy, and eventual acceptance into a wider Europe, four generations of Kos women; each one more independent than the last, adapt to keep their family alive. The one constant is the house: built by aristocrats, partitioned, nationalised, it stands witness to the passing generations.
When the family assemble for Lucija's wedding, shifting politics hit them head on, and they must grapple with greed and the widening gap between generations.
Will the family survive one last battle, when each is the enemy of the other?
