Seymour and Sport for Jove present
Sport for Jove's brand new production explores the emotional centre of Hamlet and Ophelia’s journeys in a world of upheaval, creating in the process an evocative theatrical dialogue with the poetry of Emily Dickinson. The production draws upon Dickinson's startling imagery, fractured perception and luminous engagement with death, memory and the unknowable, allowing these young people’s inner lives to emerge with unique theatrical force.
Designed specifically for students studying the new NSW HSC module, this production of Shakespeare’s Hamlet foregrounds the central concerns of both prescribed texts: mortality, identity, grief, imagination, language and the elusive search for meaning.
For teachers, the production offers rich opportunities to explore textual conversations and dramatic form. For students, it is an invitation to encounter Hamlet not as a museum piece, but as urgent, immediate theatre—alive with ambiguity, beauty and emotional risk.
