This privacy collection notice applies to visitors of the Seymour Centre. 

Personal information we collect directly from you 

The Seymour Centre will collect the following personal information when you register to attend our performances:  

  • Name
  • Contact details (name, email, phone number and address)  
  • Year of birth (for all ages shows only)  
  • Communications preferences including SMS communication preferences and subscription to Seymour Centre updates  
  • Relationship to the University of Sydney 
  • Payment details  

You are not required by law to supply us with your personal details for the above purposes, however, if you choose not to provide the information requested, it may not be possible for the Seymour Centre to provide services, including digital tickets and purchased event or show updates to you. 

How we collect and use your personal information 

We collect personal information direction from you when you:  

  • Navigate our website  
  • Book, attend or register your interest to an event or show   
  • Sign up to our newsletter 
  • Complete feedback forms 
  • Donate to the Seymour Centre 
  • Submit an enquiry about upcoming venue hire opportunities 
  • Engage in Marketing advertising that registers your interest 

We use your personal information to process your booking requests and provide tickets or services to you, advise you of events and services available at the Seymour Centre and to seek your feedback on events or services. If you consent, we will send ticket and performance information to you via SMS. Only if necessary, we will also use contact phone details to send important updates regarding changes to performances. 

Personal information we share with third parties 

Seymour Centre uses VivaTicket as its customer management system and for many of its ticket booking processes. VivaTicket is hosted in the EU and has strong data security and governance practices.  

For some events and performances, it may be necessary for the Seymour Centre to share your personal information with external organisations such as partners, or third-party booking registration platforms to manage your bookings and attendance at our venue. When this occurs, we will clearly inform you during the booking process and outline how your information will be used and shared.  

The Seymour Centre also uses Mailchimp for our event communications and newsletters and SMS communications. Mailchimp hosts the Seymour Centre’s data in the United States. Mailchimp has strong data security practices and the Seymour Centre has implemented governance controls on its use of Mailchimp and limits the contact information that is stored and used in this environment. The Seymour Centre only keeps information in the Mailchimp environment that is directly needed for communication purposes. You can opt out of our communications at any time by contacting the address below. 

The Seymour Centre may share your personal information with the University of Sydney, including the University of Sydney Alumni Office, for the purpose of confirming your affiliation as a current student, staff member, or alumnus. This information may be used to provide you with eligible special offers and to keep you informed about events and activities relevant to the University community. 

The Seymour Centre will not otherwise disclose your information without your consent unless required or authorised by law. 

Cookies and Tracking Technologies 

The Seymour does use cookies and may use pixels, tracking tags, and similar technologies on our website and event pages to analyse website usage and improve our marketing effectiveness. From time to time, producers or presenting partners for specific shows may request that non‑personal tracking tags be embedded on event pages to measure the performance of their advertising campaigns. These technologies collect anonymised or aggregated information. Limited, event‑related analytics data generated through these tools may be shared with trusted third parties, such as producers, solely for the purpose of evaluating and improving marketing activity. 

How we store and secure your information 

Your personal information is stored securely in the various systems listed above. 

We will hold your personal information for the minimum retention periods set out in the State Records Act 1998 (NSW), and will dispose of your information securely when we no longer required it for a lawful purpose. 

Your rights in relation to your personal information
