Sydney University Graduate Choir presents

Joan Carden Award and Mozart Requiem

13 Aug

In 2004 the Sydney University Graduate Choir established the Joan Carden Award, a singing competition to foster and showcase promising young singers – soprano Joan Carden AO OBE graciously lends her name and her expertise as a judge to this event. In this concert we proudly present this year’s three finalists, with the Judges’ Choice and People’s Choice prizes to be announced at the end of the concert.

The choir will also present Mozart’s magnificent REQUIEM, with full orchestra and the organ of the Great Hall. Written during the final months of his life, the Requiem is a deeply personal work that represents all that is profound in Mozart’s artistry. With its splendid choruses and eloquent solo parts, this work has become a cornerstone of classical vocal music.

Soloists:

Morgan Balfour – soprano
Anna Yun – mezzo-soprano
John Longmuir – tenor
David Greco – bass
