COVID-19 Safety Measures
Updated 16 November 2021.
Please note the measures outlined below are currently valid for all 2021 events. Changes may be made and/ or these measures may be updated for 2022 events based on changing health advice. If significant changes are made, impacting your event, you will be notified directly. Up to date safety information will also be provided prior to your visit.
We're delighted to welcome you to Seymour Centre.
The health and wellbeing of patrons and staff is our highest priority, and as a registered COVID-Safe business, we have introduced a series of safety measures guided by public health advice and University of Sydney directives. We are also a proud signatory of this joint statement from a range of Sydney theatres, announcing alignment of our COVID-Safe practices until the end of 2021 for the benefit of all Sydney theatregoers.
Our COVID-Safe measures are designed to make your visit as safe and enjoyable as possible. Most notably, if your next trip to the Seymour is scheduled for any date in 2021, all eligible patrons on your booking will need to be double vaccinated against COVID-19.
Eligible patrons are patrons 16 years and older who do not have proof of medical exemption. Patrons under 16 are not required to be vaccinated, but must be accompanied by a fully vaccinated member of their household.
By purchasing tickets and registering on arrival, you and your group agree to follow our safety measures and any associated direction from Seymour staff. This is how your next trip to the Seymour will work:
First off, if any member of your group is feeling unwell, awaiting COVID-19 test results, or has recently attended a COVID-19 case location, please don’t visit.
Instead, please contact our Box Office and let us know up to two hours prior to your event and we’ll do our best to move your group to an alternative date. We have temporarily removed our ticket exchange fees to make date swaps as easy as possible.
If we can’t find a new date that works, we will convert the value of your tickets to a gift voucher eligible for any future Seymour show and valid for three years, or we'll provide you with a refund.
If you can, consider driving to the venue.
To help minimise crowding on public transport, we encourage your group to drive if you can. There are easy drop-off and pick-up points for school buses on City Road and Shepherd Street (although please note there is no bus parking available onsite). Find out more about transport options here.
Upon arrival for your event, you and your group must put on face masks.
All patrons over 12 must wear a mask while inside our foyers and theatres, except if eating or drinking or if a documented medical reason prevents it. Masks are also recommended for younger children where appropriate. Please bring masks with you.
Next, come to the front door to confirm you've completed contact tracing requirements and to present your vaccination status.
While all members of the general public need to complete COVID-Safe check-in upon entering our venue, school groups are exempt from this requirement if they provide the names and contact details of two designated contacts.
These designated contacts must be able to provide the names and contact details of all members of the group to NSW Health, if this information becomes required for contact tracing purposes.
If you and any other members of your group are 16 or older, you’ll need to show proof of double vaccination or medical exemption. Our staff will ask to sight this at the door.
Patrons under 16 are not required to be vaccinated, but must be accompanied by a fully vaccinated member of their household.
Then you can head on in! Please have your tickets ready as you approach the theatre doors.
Once you’re inside, you and your group can visit our café for a drink and a snack.
When it’s time for your event to start, please have your tickets handy to minimise queuing at the theatre doors.
Seating for schools is by general admission, and each school will be asked to enter the theatre as a group.
Once you’re inside, take your seat and enjoy the show.
All our 2021 events are currently operating at 75% capacity. Seating will not be explicitly socially distanced and you may be seated alongside other booking groups.
2022 events that are currently on sale have varied seating capacities, and further details can be found on each specific event page.
During the show, please ensure all members of your group keep their masks on and remain in their seats to help ensure a calm and safe experience for all.
During your visit, please remember these other important points.
Observe good hygiene practices: Groups should wash and sanitise hands regularly in the bathrooms or at sanitising stations located throughout the venue. Cough and sneeze into your elbow.
Practice social distancing where possible: Queue where indicated, don’t let your group congregate in the foyers, observe lift limits, ensure group members stay in their designated seats when inside the theatre, and in all other instances ensure group members maintain a 1.5 metre distance if possible.
Use contactless payment where possible: Contactless payment is available at the Box Office and our café.
And finally, read about the additional steps we’ve taken to keep you safe.
We’ve implemented enhanced cleaning procedures at our venue, with all hard and high-touch surfaces cleaned regularly with hospital-grade disinfectant. All our front of house managers have completed training to become COVID-19 safety marshals.
Thank you for your support and cooperation. If you have any questions prior to your visit, please contact our Box Office - and on the day of your visit, our friendly staff will be there to guide you through.
We can’t wait to see you at the theatre!
