There’s a leak in the ceiling. The paint pots are too high on the shelf. The picture frame isn’t square enough.
Nothing is going right for The Artist as he attempts to create a still life masterpiece, and the harder he tries, the more chaotic things become.
Created and performed by the Aotearoa/New Zealand-born, Paris-trained and Helsinki-based clowning sensation Thom Monckton, The Artist is a rib-tickling showcase of physical comedy, circus skills and hilarious ideas.
As you watch this distractible artist chase his elusive muse, it’s clear that in this wordless show Monckton’s Gumby body, goofy charisma and wry timing does all the talking required. Ever wondered if a pear can gate-crash a bananas-only nightclub? Wonder no more.
