In 2018 the 40th Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival comes to the Seymour. Proudly supporting Australia’s largest celebration of LGBTQI culture we’ve programmed a season of new theatre works, live music plus big shows with lots of lipstick.

Tommy Murphy’s classic Strangers in Between, directed by Daniel Lammin, stars AFI and Logie Award winner Simon Burke. This exciting revival, not seen in Sydney since the original Griffin production in 2005, tells the story of Shane, who has fled his family and is seeking refuge in Kings Cross as he struggles to move on from his past.

Playlist is the unearthing of new works from emerging LGBQTI writers. Join like-minded friends for a day of readings and workshops, and hear the voices of the next generation.

Enjoy free live music when Mardi Gras Courtyard Sessions 2018 starts in February, showcasing a raft of local musicians representing the LGBTQI community. Make a date with Rachel Maria Cox and Chicks with Picks.

Drag legends Mitzi Macintosh, Courtney Act and drag king champion from the UK Lucy Jane Parkinson (performing in JOAN) will take the stage for a show stopping ride.

It’s huge! Check out our complete Mardi Gras program.
