Freddie Hill presents

The Water Babies Opera

18 June

A folk opera; a fairy tale for our times.

Charles Kingsley’s iconic work, The Water Babies, is a Folk Opera combining popular and classic musical idioms from various eras. A handpicked orchestra of eleven seasoned professionals preserve the charm, glory and terror of Kingsley’s work.

The performance is delivered by a company of ten principal singers, including two talented young performers who take on the pivotal roles of Tom and Ellie. The composer has freely adapted Kingsley’s vision in a way which opens up views on this well-loved fairy tale.

The Water Babies will resonate with those who are familiar with it from their childhoods, as well as those who are new to the story.
