Seymour Centre presents

Mr McGee and the Biting Flea

By Patch Theatre Company Written by Pamela Allen

8 - 12 July

"Fast-paced inventive theatre – cows appear out of sliding door-ways, balloons become heads and ducks float up in wells as no imagination is spared … this show will be another national best seller!”

Matt Byrne, Sunday Mail

“Mr McGee went out to play, down to the beach one windy day,” the story begins. His happy mood is spoilt when he is bitten by a flea, a flea that he can’t get rid of.

Six whimsical stories by award-winning children’s writer, Pamela Allen, are presented in this surprising, charming, funny and frenetic production: Mr McGee, Alexander’s Outing, Belinda, Brown Bread and Honey, Mary Elizabeth’s House, Mr McGee and the Biting Flea.

The stories emerge from dozens of suitcases and crates as three curious warehouse workers transform a storeroom into enchanting little miracles of music and play.

“Using an assortment of props – mops, ladders, an air pump, steamer trunks, balloons, the three performers bring Pamela Allen’s stories to sweet, music-infused life. In the process, they make Mr. McGee and the Biting Flea a simple, elegant valentine to theatrical imagination. It is rare to see a show that leaves an avid theatregoer wanting more. Mr McGee does” – Minneapolis Star Tribune
