Sydney University Musical Theatre Ensemble presents
The Mad Ones occurs within a single moment, and at the same time over the course of a year. As Sam sits in her driveway, behind the wheel of her best friend Kelly’s car, trying to muster the courage to drive into the unknown, she reflects on the year she’s had; graduating high school; her mother Beverly’s Ivy League aspirations for her; her maturing relationship with her boyfriend Adam, and the sudden death of Kelly in a car crash.
Kelly was Sam’s counterpoint – where Sam is sensible and logical, Kelly was fiery and impetuous – and that’s why Sam needed her. Now she sits at a crossroads, wondering if she’s bold enough to take the risk alone, and leave the person she’s expected to be behind to find who she needs to be.
