Guardian Australia celebrates a decade of making a difference

Ten years ago a small team of journalists set up a newsroom that aimed to make a difference in Australian journalism. Today, Guardian Australia is one of the most-read news websites in the country.

To celebrate our birthday, we are holding a special evening for supporters with Guardian editors and journalists looking back over a decade of impactful journalism, and looking forward to what will shape the next ten years, and beyond.

The evening will be hosted by Gabrielle Jackson - associate editor, audio and visual. Founding editor and now editor-in-chief of the Guardian, Katharine Viner, and Guardian Australia editor Lenore Taylor will be in conversation with opinion editor Bridie Jabour about humble beginnings and the Guardian’s growth. Political editor Katharine Murphy, environment editor Adam Morton, executive producer and host of Full Story Laura Murphy-Oates, and social inequality editor Luke Henriques-Gomes will be in conversation with features editor Lucy Clark about the impact of Guardian journalism, while our beloved First Dog on the Moon, photographer Mike Bowers, and cartoonist Fiona Katauskus will present their own special take on the past ten years, while our TikTok maestro Matilda Boseley will perform a song for the next decade.

Join us for a special night as we trace the history of Guardian Australia, celebrate its impact over the past decade, thank our generous supporters, and examine the values and goals that will shape the next ten years.
