Lighting Designer, The Face of Jizo

Matt has worked as a lighting designer in both Australia and the UK, building a diverse portfolio across theatre and dance. He has created lighting designs for several Bangarra Dance Theatre productions, including Belong (2012), Blak (2013), Dance Clan 3 (2013), OUR land people stories (2016), ONES Country – The Spine of Our Stories (2017), as well as Waru: Journey of the Small Turtle and Dubboo.

His theatre design work extends to Carriageworks with Lake Disappointment, and to Ensemble Theatre where he contributed to productions such as A Christmas Carol, Boxing Day BBQ, A View from the Bridge, A Broadcast Coup, The Caretaker, Nearer the Gods, Diplomacy, and Murder on the Wireless. Matt has also worked with Marrugeku on Burrbgaja Yalirra and its sequel Burrbgaja Yalirra 2, and with Monkey Baa Theatre Company on shows including Edward the Emu, Possum Magic, The Unknown Soldier, and Diary of a Wombat.

Matt’s design credits include multiple seasons of the Wharf Revue for Soft Tread and Sydney Theatre Company, as well as Ruby Moon. He has collaborated with William Zappa on The Iliad Out Loud, Tinderbox Productions on David Suchet: Poirot and More, and Louise Withers and Associates on The Mousetrap and A Murder is Announced. Other theatre companies Matt has worked with include Company B (The Seed), Sport for Jove (The Libertine, Othello, Antigone, The River at the End of the Road, and The Tempest), and Red Line Productions (This Much Is True and A View from the Bridge).
