- Bell Shakespeare Company: Hamlet, The Merchant of Venice, Richard III, Much Ado About Nothing, Julius Caesar
- Malthouse Theatre: ‘Tis A Pity She’s A Whore
- State Theatre Company of South Australia: The Torrents
- Griffin Theatre Company: Ship of Fools, The Peach Season
- Red Stitch Actors Theatre: Day One. A Hotel, Evening
- Opera Australia: The King and I
- Melbourne Theatre Company: Hamlet, Dead Man’s Cell Phone, The Give and Take
Among his many credits, John received a Sydney Theatre Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Mainstage Production for his work in The School For Wives with Bell Shakespeare. He was also nominated for a Green Room Award for his portrayal of Frost in Frost/Nixon with the Melbourne Theatre Company.
John is also well known to television audiences for his roles in City Homicide, Janet King, House Husbands, Hoges, Never Tear Us Apart: The INXS Story, Neighbours, Home and Away, Always Greener, A Country Practice, Water Rats, All Saints, Above the Law, Stingers, 13 Gantry Row, Chameleon, The Lost World, Beastmaster, Flipper, The Whole World in His Hands, The Track, Bad Cop/Bad Cop, The Alice, GP, E-Street, Farscape and Underbelly: The Tale of Two Cities.
John’s been on a near-decade long sabbatical from acting. He’s happy to say that reading The Inheritance enticed him back. He remains a proud member of the actors’ union, MEAA.
