Jennifer Rani

Actor, Consent

Jennifer Rani is an actor and director who works primarily with new Australian writing. Select stage performances include Helayas Breen in Tom Holloway’s world premiere The Museum of Modern Love (Sydney Festival, 2022), Billy in Patricia Cornelius’ SHIT (Theatre Royal Backspace, 2019), and Marlow in Emme Hoy’s Extinction of the Learned Response (Belvoir 25A, 2019).

Television appearances include 

  • Bhvana in Bay of Fires (ABC, 2022), 
  • Carla in Home and Away (Channel 7, 2022/23), 
  • Regular cast member Stacy Walsh on the hit Australian comedy Rosehaven (ABC 2016-19).

For Sydney Festival 2022, she directed the premiere of Hilary Bell’s chamber piece Window, Cricket Bat, masterfully performed by Lucia Mastrantone. 

Selected for Sydney Theatre Company/Contemporary Asian Australian Performance Director’s Initiative 2019-2021, she was Assistant Director to Jessica Arthur and later, directed a NIDA graduation performance in a collaboration between STC Emerging Writers and NIDA (2021).

Jennifer is also an accomplished creative producer that’s worked on seminal artistic programs, most notably delivering the first and second Dark Mofo festivals in sunny lutruwita.
