PLEASE NOTE: Romeo and Juliet is now being delivered digitally. Please find more information below.
This fast-paced, thrilling new production of Romeo and Juliet takes the audience through four short days of joy, love and tragedy.
So much is public and outdoors in this story, and yet at its heart is a soaring love affair that remains entirely secret until a terrible Thursday morning when a town of adults, now stripped of its children, stands in the gloomy dawn to learn the appalling costs of hatred, ignorance and prejudice.
The young people in this great story follow their impulses and pay a terrible price, but their apparent rashness and “rude will” is the only logical response to the extraordinarily irrational world built around them by their families.
Funny, bleak, frightening, deliriously romantic, moving and inspiring, Romeo and Juliet is the perfect introduction to Shakespeare for young audiences.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, Romeo and Juliet is now being offered as a digital package. The newly created package will include:
- A recording of Romeo and Juliet, produced and performed by the Sport for Jove team.
- Accompanying Student Notes Kit, including context and insights about the play to enrich understanding and deepen classroom discussion.
- A workshop video featuring Artistic Director Damien Ryan and the lead cast of Romeo and Juliet.
The pre-recorded production video will be available via on-line streaming into your classroom or by individual students who might be viewing remotely and will be accessed via an access code. This digital content will be available until 31 December 2020. Once the video has been opened for the first time, you can watch it as many times as you like within the one-week rental period.
