Sport for Jove and Seymour Centre present

HSC Symposiums

15 Mar - 10 Jun 2021

We are a registered COVID-Safe business and we're committed to making your Seymour visit as safe and enjoyable as possible.

Due to physical distancing requirements, the theatre will operate at 50% reduced capacity during school shows. School groups will be spaced apart according to NSW Government guidelines. If spacing is required within your school group, please contact schoolbookings@seymour.sydney.edu.au

The booking teacher will be listed as the school group’s point-of-contact for contact tracing.

Schools are responsible for ensuring that any staff and students who are unwell, awaiting a COVID test result, or under instruction to self-isolate do not attend.

Masks are encouraged, but ultimately up to the discretion of schools.

Find out about our other COVID safety measures here.

The HSC Symposium series presents essential opportunities to deepen your student’s practical understanding of core texts through experiencing and analysing key scenes and characters in performance.

Lecture and scene work will be interspersed with expert commentary from Damien Ryan and his team – exploring famous scenes and speeches in multiple ways, opening up diverse critical readings, unlocking language and character, hearing actors discuss the plays’ famous ambiguities and challenges, and answering students’ questions.

A complete, hands-on experience that combines the unfiltered relationship students need with the plays’ action and narrative while also ensuring they are ‘watching with understanding’, in other words, extracting the key ingredients and critical thinking required to write on the plays under exam conditions. Don’t miss it!

A detailed online Student Resource Kit will be available for all bookings.

"You made a difficult play accessible and meaningful to students in a short space of time. I will certainly be making a booking for next year's HSC group."
