Zachary Aleksander

Zachary Aleksander (he/they) studied musical theatre at the Australian Institute of Music, where they appeared as The Baker in Into the Woods (dir Tyran Parke) before being scouted for The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (Squabbalogic/Seymour Centre).
Currently on a streak of five five-star productions, they have received critical-acclaim for their work on: Ophelia Thinks Harder (Fingerless Theatre/KXT as onstage music director in the role of Laertes), Hair (ZAP/Factory Theatre as director/producer and the role of Berger), The Hello Girls (Hayes Theatre Co as various roles/onstage guitar), The Government Inspector (Fingerless Theatre as onstage music director in the role of Osip) and WorldPride Festival’s Twelfth Night (Fingerless Theatre as onstage music director in the role of Feste).
On other stages, Zach has acted for the Australian Shakespeare Co, Sydney Comedy Festival and Little Triangle, assistant directed a three-city tour of Iolanthe (The Art House/GPAC w/ GSOS) and written/directed four musical revues in their capacity as a university lecturer of Acting & Music Theatre (AMPA); for screen, they have appeared in projects for Sony Pictures, Stan, Network 10, SBS, 7Plus and ABC’s Rage.
They look forward to working with Kate Gaul again after playing Bobby Beckett/onstage guitar/cello in three seasons and a tour of the STA-nominated HMS Pinafore (Siren Theatre Co/Hayes Theatre Co/Sydney Festival).
