Past Event

Orphalese 101, a concert of exhilarating classical music by the Andalus Arabic Choir and soprano Ghada Daher-Elmowy takes you on a magical journey from the Middle- East to Andalusia. It is where vocals and music create counterpoints to indulge you in Tarab, a euphoric state of enjoyment.

Orphalese 101 vivifies Sydney’s nightlife with captivating rhythms, nostalgic melodies and exotic airs to transport you to a dream of an oriental midsummer night. The concert duration is 120 min, two sets and an interval, including a continuing tribute to Kahlil Gibran’s centenary of the “Prophet”, songs from his other publications, short poetry readings in Arabic and English, as well as a new broad repertoire of songs in various Arabic dialects.

Conducted by soprano Ghada Daher-Elmowy and featuring elite musicians: Dr Noel Elmowy (MD), Catherine Azzi, Charbel Azzi, Christopher Soulos, Charbel Moussa, Mustafa Al Tayar, Raphael Alwan, Stuart Van deGraaf, Philip Elmowy and Nasser Selimi.

The Andalus Arabic Choir is a multicultural non-profit organisation reflecting the love of Arabic and Andalusian music showcasing our rich music and culture.
