See Hania Rani—musical meteor, astonishing pianist, and contemporary composer—in Australia for the first time.
Hania Rani is one of the most successful and intriguing pianists in the world right now. She is a transcendent talent, a classically-trained pianist able to evoke the sparseness of her native Polish Bieszezady mountain landscape while teasing enough latent energy to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Rani grew up in Gdansk, Poland, and was initially inspired to study classical music. However she was introduced to jazz and electronica at music school, widening her interests and as she puts it, mixing Chopin and Schostakovitch with Dave Brubeck and Moderat.
Jonathan Zwartz, ARIA Award-winning jazz musician, will open for Hania.
This event is sponsored by Gondwanna Records and Von der Haardt.
"[Rani's work is] emotional rather than intellectual, genre-bending and boundary-breaking, rhythmic rather than atonal, creating a world that the listener is swept up in."Forbes
