Sydney Dance Festival showcases the diverse forms of Indian Classical dancing including Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Odissi, Kuchipudi and Sattriya.
For the first time in Sydney the festival presents the exemplary dancing of young artistes from India who are at the forefront of their respective dance forms in conjunction with eminent local dancers and dance schools. A very special event where you can see most of the Indian classical dance forms from the East, West, South and North of India.
Kathak dance will be presented by artists Abhimayu Lal and Vidha Lal, Odissi dance by Sujata Mohapatra, Kuchipudi dance by Prateeksha and the Shakti School of Dance Sydney, Bharatanatyam by Chidambaram Dance Company from Chennai and Samskriti School of Dance Sydney and Sattriya dance by Anita Sharma and Naren Boruah. Sattriya dance is being presented for the first time in Australia.
The festival aims to provide an insight into the rich cultural diversity and heritage of India and this is a platform for upcoming dancers to promote themselves and their art form.
